This classroom display is a great idea for a reading corner. Children enjoy creative displays as much as the teachers if not more so. Creating a classroom display like this will encourage reading as i m sure many children want to be sitting under The Reading Tree . Transformational classroom displays are particularly popular in early years and key stage 1 settings. This reading area has become a jungle complete with an elephant lion and tiger. Most of the animals have been made and painted by the children with some adult assistance. The result is a high interest area with lots to talk about. This is a lovely history classroom wall display for a key stage 1 class. The Then and Now topic is interesting but can be tricky for Year 1. They have so little concept of the past at this age. Last year seems an age ago to some of them It s a great opportunity for embedding ICT though. The first problem with the hopes and dreams I had for my classroom displays was with the word wall. These are very common in classrooms up and down the country and tend to display words that pupils need to use in a subject or that are commonly misspelled.
